The Memorial Garden
Berwyn United Methodist Church intends to provide a Memorial
Garden for Christians who have lived life in the Church that the
Church might serve as our final resting place for burial. The
Memorial Garden will be a consecrated area that will include a
scattering garden and a columbarium wall for internment of
ashes.
Throughout our lifetime, the church is our spiritual home; hence, a church garden is a suitable resting place for the ashes of our members and their families who choose to be cremated. Churches have historically cared for their grieving families. Providing a memorial at the church makes it possible for members to have their earthly final resting place where they worshipped and served their God. The Berwyn UMC Memorial Garden contains a wall with niches in the grassy area between the entrance driveway and the north window wall of the church. The scattering garden will be placed against an existing brick wall that is part of the north entrance to the Sanctuary. The garden will be a quiet place for family and friends to visit. Each niche can contain two urns of cremated remains. A plaque on the front of the niche displays name and dates of birth and death. Contact the church office for more information or to obtain an "Application for Internment." ![]() ![]() |
