Scout Troop 181 December 2022 Update

Debbie Bellew

This past month has been a busy one for Scouts BSA Troop 181, we camped at the Hawk Mountain Scout reservation on the Appalachian Trail, worked together on an Eagle Scout project (pictured) to rebuild steps at the Field of Dreams for the Berwyn Paoli Area Little League, and conducted a pre Thanksgiving food drive. We are looking forward to earning the Radio merit badge together next month. Interested boys age 11 or older are encouraged to join the troop for a fun bowling night at Devon Lanes on December 13 at 7:00pm, or join us for a sample meeting any first Tuesday of the month in Schieck Hall at 7:00pm. Please reach out with any questions to or scoutmaster.1

Why United Methodists Should Watch The UMC Family Gathering Video

Published: October 04, 2023

The United Methodist Church (UMC) recently held a family gathering, with participants joining both in person and online. The event featured a choir and orchestra, and the music was greatly appreciated by the attendees. The UMC has been facing challenges, with some people, like Mark Tuli from the Institute for Religion and Democracy, predicting its decline. However, there are still many growing and vibrant churches within the UMC, as shared by five pastors who recently experienced growth in their congregations. Additionally, there is hope for the future, as Millennials and Gen Z are more likely to attend mainline churches like the UMC. The UMC's message of the gospel has the potential to reach 21st-century non-religious and nominally religious individuals, making it a valuable and relevant church in today's world.
