Berwyn United Methodist Nursery School is looking for a DYNAMIC and compassionate Director to lead the expansion of our childcare services into a full-time, year-round program, including care for infants and toddlers. In this role, you will take charge of INSPIRING and supporting our team of educators, creating a curriculum that helps children THRIVE, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. You’ll work closely with the current director during this exciting transition and partner with the church pastor to plan fun, community-building events that strengthen the bond between the school and the wider community.
As the Director, you’ll play a vital role in preserving the warm, nurturing culture that has made BUMNS a beloved space for children and their families. Our program is rooted in providing a safe, comforting environment where children feel valued, supported, and inspired to learn. Key Responsibilities
- Program development and curriculum management Recruitment and management of staff
- Overseeing financial planning and budget management
- Maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and STARS PROGRAM
- Reach and Maintain Enrollment Targets
Qualifications
Education
A Director must meet one of the following educational qualifications as set forth by Pennsylvania DHS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, with 1 year of experience working with children.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 2 years of experience working with children.
- Associate’s Degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, with 3 years of experience working with children.
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 4 years of experience working with children.
Experience
- Previous experience in expanding or managing full-time, year-round childcare programs.
- Proven track record in marketing and community outreach
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the school.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
