Order of Worship for Sunday, April 13th 2025

Prelude

Welcome

Call to Worship

Leader: The road to the city is dusty, the path uneven, but the people gather.
People: We come, bringing what we have—our cloaks, our hearts, our lives.

Leader: With every humble offering, the way is made clear.
People: Christ is coming! Let us worship with joy and expectation.

Opening Hymn

All Glory, Laud, and Honor UMH 280

Prayer of Confession

God of Abundant Grace, You call us to lay our cloaks before You, but we are afraid to loosen our grip. We confess that we often hold back what we could offer, afraid that it isn't enough or can't be used for your kingdom.

We cling to comfort, possessions, and pride, forgetting that even our smallest gifts can prepare the way for You. We are slow to act, hesitant to trust, and quick to judge. Forgive us, Lord. Help us lay down our lives with humility and joy, and make a path in us for your presence to dwell. Amen.

Words of Assurance

Leader: Hear the good news: God's grace is not measured by the size of our gift but by the sincerity of our hearts.
People: Even when we hold back, God reaches out. In Christ, we are forgiven and made new. Thanks be to God!

Good Friday Service Tenebrae Service

on 4/18/2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM

Join us for a solemn and reflective Good Friday Tenebrae service, pre-recorded and made available online for you to participate in from the quiet of your home. This service invites us into the final hours of Jesus’ earthly life, guiding us through the shadows of betrayal, denial, suffering, and death. Through Scripture readings, prayer, and the gradual extinguishing of light, the Tenebrae service (Latin for "darkness" or "shadows") helps us enter the deep sorrow of the crucifixion while holding space for reverence and silence. Whether you participate alone or with loved ones, this at-home format allows you to create a sacred space wherever you are—perhaps by dimming the lights, lighting candles, and preparing your heart for the journey to the cross.
