Order of Worship for Sunday, August 4th 2024

Prelude

Welcome

Call to Worship

Leader: Loving God, have mercy on us
People: Like David, we have been greedy, grasping, even though we have enough.

L: We have forgotten your promise that you will fill us with the bread of life.
P: Like the 5000, we seek bread for the body more than the bread from heaven.

L: Forgive us our sins, take away our guilt.
P: Loving God, have mercy on us.

Opening Hymn

Itโ€™s Me, Itโ€™s Me, O Lord UMH 352

Prayer of Confession

Leader: Have mercy on us, O God of love and grace. Wash away the thoughts that bind us to sin and erase those actions that lead us away from you.

People: God of unity and love, place within each of us a spirit of hope and community. Have mercy upon us when we speak without love or act without humility. Cleanse us with the living water of your grace. Create in us willing hearts to live in patience and gentleness. Raise us up to be your children, growing toward maturity in faith and love. Strengthen this church; that we may be a model of ministry and unity for all the world to see. In Christโ€™s name, we pray. Amen.

Words of Assurance

Leader: Hear the good news! Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that is proof of God's love toward us.  May you know your sins are forgiven.

People: Glory to God! Amen.
